What it calculates
The calculator adds up a trip’s fuel, AdBlue, tolls and bridges, driver and other costs and gives the total and the cost per kilometre. Every price is the user’s input, and the result is in the currency of the prices entered; there is no currency to choose.
Formula
- Fuel (litres) = distance × consumption (l/100 km) ÷ 100
- Fuel cost = fuel × price per litre
- AdBlue cost = fuel × AdBlue rate (%) ÷ 100 × AdBlue price per litre
- Driver cost = driving time (hours) × driver cost per hour
- Other costs = distance × other costs per km
- Total = fuel + AdBlue + tolls and bridges + driver + other costs
- Cost per km = total ÷ distance
Example
The calculator opens on the fuel calculator’s example: 1,000 km at 30 l/100 km, with fuel at 1.5 a litre. The fuel is 1,000 × 30 ÷ 100 = 300 litres and costs 300 × 1.5 = 450; 0.45 per km. AdBlue, tolls, driver and other costs are added to the total as they are entered.
Driver hours
The driving time can be taken from the driving time calculator. Under Regulation 561/2006 daily driving is at most 9 hours, and in Turkey KTY Art. 98 allows 9 hours in 24 hours on domestic trips; longer trips take breaks and daily rests. The calculator only multiplies the hours entered by the hourly cost; breaks and rests count only if they are entered.
Assumptions and limits
- No price is preset; the fuel price it opens with is only an example.
- AdBlue use is entered as a percentage of the fuel; the user sets the rate.
- Costs such as depreciation, insurance, tyres and maintenance can go in together under “Other costs per km”.
- Tolls and bridges are entered as the total for the trip.
Source notes
The formula uses only the values the user enters. The daily driving limits are from Regulation 561/2006 and Turkey’s Karayolları Trafik Yönetmeliği Art. 98. The fuel consumption converter converts between consumption units.
Quick answers
- How is the cost per km worked out?
- All the costs of the trip are added and divided by the distance: fuel (distance × l/100 km ÷ 100 × price per litre), AdBlue, tolls and bridges, driving time × the driver's hourly cost, and distance × other costs per km.
- What does the fuel for a 1,000 km trip cost?
- At 30 l/100 km the trip uses 300 litres; at 1.5 a litre that is 450, or 0.45 per km. The result is in the currency of the price entered.
- How is the AdBlue cost worked out?
- Fuel used × the AdBlue rate (as a percentage of the fuel) ÷ 100 × the AdBlue price per litre. The user enters the rate; the calculator has none preset.
- Where does the driving time come from?
- The driving time calculator gives it from the distance and the average speed. Under Regulation 561/2006 daily driving is at most 9 hours, so longer trips take daily rests as well.
