Calculators
Calculators for loads, weights, driving time and trip cost, and unit converters, for trucks and buses. Every factor and every legal limit comes from the source named on the page, and each page shows the formula.
Load and pallets
- Pallets per trailerHow many pallets fit in my trailer?Euro and industrial pallets in curtainsider, reefer and box trailers, swap bodies, containers and vans, by makers' published inside dimensions, with stacking and the weight cap.
- Cartons per palletHow many cartons go on a pallet?Cartons per layer, layers and cartons per Euro or industrial pallet up to the load height you set, and the pallets a shipment needs, with EPAL's pallet height and load limit.
- Loading metres (LDM)How many loading metres is my load?Work out loading metres for Euro, industrial and other pallets, with or without stacking: LDM = length × width ÷ 2.4 m, as Gebrüder Weiss and Koch International calculate it.
- Cubic metres (CBM)How many cubic metres is my shipment?Total cubic metres from the number of pieces and their size, and with your carrier's factor in kg per m³ the volumetric and chargeable weight. The carrier sets the factor.
Weight and axles
- Truck payloadHow many tonnes can my truck carry?Legal maximum weight less tare for trucks and articulated vehicles in Turkey, EU countries, the UK, Russia, the US and Mexico, checked against body volume and load density.
- Axle loadsHow much load is on each axle?Axle and axle-group loads of a rigid truck or a tractor and semi-trailer, with the kingpin load, checked against each country's axle, tandem and tridem limits with the provision and source.
- Tyre load indexHow much can my tyre carry?Read a tyre's load index and speed symbol as kilograms per tyre and per axle, single or dual, and find the lowest load index an axle load needs. Table from UNECE Regulation 54.
Time and cost
- Driving and rest timeHow long will the trip take with breaks and rests?Driving time, breaks, daily rests and total time for a distance and average speed, under EU Regulation 561/2006, AETR, UK, Swiss, Turkish, Russian, US and Mexican rules.
- Trip cost per kmWhat will the trip cost?Total and per-km cost of a trip from fuel, AdBlue, tolls, driver hours and other costs per km, all from your own prices; the result is in the currency you enter.
- l/100 km ↔ mpgHow much fuel will the trip use?Convert fuel consumption between litres per 100 km, km per litre and US or UK miles per gallon, and work out the fuel and cost of a trip. Formulas from NIST's gallon and mile.
Unit conversion
- kW ↔ PS ↔ hpHow many horsepower is that?Convert engine power between kilowatts, metric horsepower (PS, CV, л.с.) and the 550 ft·lbf/s horsepower (hp) with NIST's factors: 1 PS = 0.7354988 kW, 1 hp = 0.7456999 kW.
- Nm ↔ lb-ft ↔ kgf·mWhat is that in lb-ft or kgm?Convert engine torque between newton metres, pound-force feet (lb-ft) and kilogram-force metres (kgf·m) with NIST's factors: 1 lbf·ft = 1.355818 Nm, 1 kgf·m = 9.80665 Nm.
- mi · mph · gal · lbMiles, gallons, pounds: what in metric?Convert miles and km, mph and km/h, US and imperial gallons and litres, pounds, short tons and tonnes, with NIST's factors. Useful for US and UK truck data sheets.
