The Grand Toro is the 8.5-metre midibus that Anadolu Isuzu Otomotiv Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. sells in Türkiye under the Isuzu name. Its Turkish model page describes it as an 8.5 m mid-size bus (“8,5 m orta boy bir otobüs”) for short- and medium-distance shuttle services (“servis”), tourist travel and airport transport, with a capacity of up to 37 seats. The figures for the Grand Toro come from two Anadolu Isuzu documents: the two-page Turkish catalogue of the Grand Toro, whose PDF was created on 15 October 2026 and which prints no date of its own, and the Grand Toro model page on isuzu.com.tr, which carries no publication date (footer “Copyright © 2024 Anadolu Isuzu”). Anadolu Isuzu’s news items of 13 October 2025 and 9 July 2026 describe the Grand Toro XL. All four were read on 4 November 2026. Anadolu Isuzu’s Citiport city buses are described in Isuzu Citiport.
Maker’s description
The first page of the catalogue carries the line “Anadolu Isuzu; Isuzu’nun Asya kıtası dışında bulunan tüm tesislerinde, IMM sertifikasına sahip tek fabrikasıdır”: Anadolu Isuzu describes its plant as the only factory among all of Isuzu’s facilities outside the Asian continent that holds IMM certification. The same page notes that the weight figures are nominal values for the base vehicle configuration, and that models, equipment and technical data may differ from country to country, from region to region and over time. In the equipment list, “S” marks an item as standard and “O” as optional (“S: Standart O: Opsiyonel”).

The model page names the engine “Cummins 4.5L”, gives diesel (“Dizel”) as the fuel and prints the same power and torque, 151 kW (205 PS) at 2,300 rpm and 832 Nm at 1,200–1,450 rpm. Its introductory line speaks of a Euro 6 Cummins engine that produces “206 HP” at 2,300 rpm. The Euro VI stages are set out in Euro 6 and Euro 7 explained.
Gearbox and brakes
The catalogue gives one gearbox, “Allison (T3270R xFE)”, marked standard, of the automatic type (“Otomatik”), with six forward gears and one reverse. Its brake rows also refer to a manual gearbox: the retarder is standard with the automatic gearbox and an option with the manual gearbox (“S (Otomatik Şanzıman) / O (Manuel Şanzıman)”), and a footnote says that with the manual gear option the retarder is optional. The model page gives the gearbox as “Manuel (S), Otomatik (O)”: manual as standard and automatic as an option. No document opened names the manual gearbox or gives its number of gears.
The brakes are discs at the front and at the rear (“Disk / Disk”), in a dual-circuit, self-adjusting full-air system with EBS (“EBS’li Çift Devreli Otomatik Ayarlı, Tam Havalı Fren Sistemi”). The parking brake is air-actuated and acts on the rear axle. As auxiliary brakes (“Yardımcı Fren”) the catalogue lists a vacuum-assisted exhaust brake, the hand brake and the retarder, each marked standard, the retarder with the footnote on the manual gearbox. ABS, ASR, EBS and AEBS, the advanced emergency braking system, are standard. Retarders and exhaust brakes are covered in retarders and engine braking.
Suspension, tyres, tanks and electrical system
The front suspension uses parabolic steel-alloy leaf springs (“Parabolik Çelik Alaşımlı Yaprak Yaylar”); the rear suspension is air suspension (“Havalı Süspansiyon”). The tyre size is 245/70 R17.5. The fuel tank holds 190 litres and the AdBlue tank 31 litres. The electrical system has a nominal voltage of 24 V, with two 12 V batteries of 150 Ah (“2x12 V - 150 Ah”).
Seating, luggage and doors
The standard layout is 37 passengers and the driver (“37 (Yolcu) + 1 (Sürücü)”). The optional layouts are 35 passengers, a hostess and the driver, or 33 passengers and the driver. The hostess seat is standard in the 35-passenger layout, and a footnote says that the 37+1 layout has no hostess-seat option; a note in the equipment section adds that different seating layouts are available (“Farklı oturma düzenleri mevcuttur”). The model page gives the standard layout as “37 + 1”.
The luggage compartment holds 4.6 m³ in the catalogue (“Bagaj Kapasitesi”) and on the model page (“Bagaj Hacmi”). Central locking, listed under the luggage compartment, is optional; an in-vehicle hand-luggage compartment, the parcel rack (“Şapkalık”), is standard.
There are two service doors, the front door and the rear door (“Arka Kapı”), both single-leaf and opening outwards (“Tek Kanat, Dışa Açılır”), with remote control as standard. A passenger lift or the preparation for one (“Yolcu Asansörü veya Hazırlığı”) is optional.
Safety and driver-assistance systems
The safety list of the catalogue marks as standard a lane departure warning system (LDWS), tyre pressure monitoring (TPMS), a row headed “Reverse Motion”, driver drowsiness and attention warning (DDAW), an emergency braking system, a blind spot information system (BSIS), a moving off information system (MOIS), a cyber security system, intelligent speed assistance (ISA), an alcohol-meter preparation (“Alkolmetre (Hazırlık)”), cruise control, a speed limiter, a tachograph, ABS, ASR, ESC/ESP, EBD, hill start assistance, a parking sensor, an engine-compartment fire detection and automatic extinguishing system, a spare wheel, a tyre inflation kit, a roof emergency exit and ventilation hatch, front fog lamps and daytime running lamps (DTRL). Which of these systems the EU General Safety Regulation requires, and from when, is set out in mandatory driver assistance systems; the rules for engine-compartment fire detection and suppression are covered in bus fire safety.
Driver’s area, interior, climate and equipment
The driver’s seat is air-actuated and adjustable. The windscreen sun visor is manual as standard and automatic as an option. Electrically controlled side mirrors, heated horn-type side mirrors (“Isıtmalı Boynuz Tipi Yan Ayna”), a front-right close-range mirror (“Sağ Ön Göğüs Ayna”), a cabinet above the driver, a USB charging socket for the driver and a first-aid kit are standard; a cabinet above the hostess and a USB charging socket for the hostess are optional. The windscreen is one-piece (“Yekpare”) and the driver’s side window is manually operated.
For the passengers the catalogue lists as standard an overhead service set with hostess call, reading lamps and ventilation, ceiling lighting, step lighting, curtains, reclining seats, seats that open sideways (“Yana Açılır Yolcu Koltukları”), seat-back trays, seat-back magazine nets, armrests on the aisle side and a refrigerator. Grand Toro XL
Anadolu Isuzu’s news item of 13 October 2025 reports that the company redeveloped its well-known model (“tanınmış modeli”) Grand Toro, raised the number of seats to 41 and increased the luggage capacity, and that the new high-capacity version, the Grand Toro XL, was presented for the first time at Busworld Europe 2025, held in Brussels on 4–9 October 2025. The news item of 9 July 2026 calls the Grand Toro XL the high-capacity new version of the Grand Toro, a 41-passenger model, and reports that it was shown at Busworld Türkiye 2026 in Istanbul on 17–19 June.
