The PRO L is BMC’s 4x2 long-haul tractor, with a high-roof cab with two beds and a 12.9-litre Cummins X13DT engine. BMC lists it in two ratings on one data page: the PRO L 1852 at 520 PS, which BMC took on a tour of Turkey in July 2026, and the PRO L 1856 at 560 PS, which it launched at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover in September 2026. This page is built from the PRO L technical specifications on BMC’s English site and their Turkish edition, both undated and read on 26 October 2026, BMC’s English and Turkish PRO L overview pages, BMC press releases of 1 July, 24 July and 15 September 2026, and BMC news items of 12 and 20 September 2026.
Overview and launch
A BMC release of 1 July 2026 announced a tour of the PRO L 1852 to 17 locations in Turkey through July, after first presentation events at Tosyalı Holding’s İskenderun port and the Osmaniye organised industrial zone; the tour’s first stop was the İzmir Aliağa truckers’ cooperative on 1 July. The release of 24 July 2026 reports the tour completed, lists among the places visited İzmir, Denizli, Konya, Mersin, Adana, Gaziantep, Kayseri, Ankara, Eskişehir, Manisa, Bursa, Balıkesir, Kocaeli and İstanbul, and calls the PRO L 1852 “BMC’nin bugüne kadar geliştirdiği en güçlü çekicisi” (the most powerful tractor BMC has developed to date).
BMC’s news of 12 September 2026 announced “our most powerful tractor unit, which we will unveil at the show” for IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover, held from 15 to 20 September 2026. There BMC launched the PRO L 1856 on its stand C21 in Hall 21. Its release of 15 September 2026 calls it “the new 560-horsepower member of its PRO L family”, developed for international long-haul transport and shown to industry professionals for the first time at the show, and describes it as “Combining the performance, driving comfort and durability offered by the PRO L 1852 with higher engine power”. BMC’s news of 20 September 2026 reports the launch ceremony and calls the PRO L 1856 “BMC’s most powerful tractor unit to date”. On the same stand BMC showed the PROCITY+ 12M EV, an electric Procity+ city bus, and the PROCITY 18M Diesel.
No BMC document opened gives a start of production or names the plant that builds the PRO L. The tractor menus of BMC’s English and Turkish sites list the PRO L 1852 (4x2) beside the TGR 1846 (4x2) in high-roof and standard-roof versions, which are covered on the BMC Tuğra page; the PRO L 1856 has a tab on both data pages but no menu entry of its own. No BMC document opened presents an earlier tractor as the PRO L’s predecessor.
Cab
Both data pages give the cab as a high roof with two beds (“High Roof, Double Bed”), seating a driver and one passenger. The release of 15 September 2026 calls it a “high-roof, double-berth cab” and “BMC’s largest, tallest and most spacious cabin design to date”. The data pages give a cab depth of 2,345 mm, with a second figure of 2,535 mm marked “SP”, an internal width of 2,370 mm and an overall height of 3,760 mm, or 3,920 mm with the parking air conditioner; neither page explains “SP”. The cab rides on four-point air suspension and tilts electrically. How day, sleeper and high-roof cabs differ in general is set out in truck cabs explained.
The English page lists as standard a 10.4-inch multimedia touchscreen compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (the Turkish page specifies a wired connection), digital climate control, steering-wheel controls, a height- and reach-adjustable steering wheel, an upper dashboard with a digital display, a 40-litre refrigerator, a dry-type cab heater, electric windows, heated and electrically adjustable side mirrors, a 12 V outlet in the driver area, two USB ports and a 12 V socket in the passenger area, one USB port for the multimedia unit and two in the sleeper area.
On seats the two editions differ. The English page lists an air-suspended driver seat with adjustable damper stiffness and a fixed passenger seat as standard. The Turkish page lists an air-suspended driver seat and a passenger seat on a static base, and in the same standard list an air-suspended passenger seat, a heated and cooled driver seat with lumbar support and a massage function, and vegan-leather driver and passenger seats. Both list fabric-and-leather seats as an option. On the roof, the English page lists an electrically operated sunroof as standard and an electrically operated roof hatch as an option; the Turkish page lists only an electric roof ventilation unit (“Elektrikli Tavan Havalandırması”), as an option. The Turkish page lists the parking air conditioner as standard; the English data page has no equipment entry for it, while its height row gives the 3,920 mm figure “w/Park AC” and the English overview page shows “Park AC” among its feature tiles.
Engine
Both ratings use the Cummins X13DT, which the data pages give as “Cummins X13DT EVI E”: a six-cylinder in-line diesel with turbocharger and intercooler and a displacement of 12.9 litres. BMC’s release of 15 September 2026 describes the engine of the PRO L 1856 as Euro VI-E-compliant; the emission steps are explained in Euro 6 and Euro 7 explained. The power row is the only row in which the two tabs of each data page differ.
| Version | Power | Torque |
|---|---|---|
| PRO L 1852 | 520 PS (382 kW) at 1,800 rpm | 2,500 Nm at 1,100 rpm |
| PRO L 1856 | 560 PS (412 kW) at 1,800 rpm | 2,500 Nm at 1,100 rpm |
Both pages give the same torque for the two ratings, and so do BMC’s releases: 520 hp and 2,500 Nm for the PRO L 1852 in the release of 1 July 2026, 560 hp and 2,500 Nm for the PRO L 1856 in the release of 15 September 2026. BMC’s English overview page describes the PRO L as equipped with “the most powerful engine BMC has ever produced”. The exhaust and catalyst system is placed on the right-hand side, and the engine brake is rated at 359 kW.
Transmission
Both ratings have a ZF 12 TX 2621 TD gearbox with an Intarder, which the English page calls automated and the Turkish page “Robotize” (robotised); the release of 15 September 2026 calls it an automated manual transmission. It has 12 forward and 2 reverse gears, with ratios given as 16.69 to 1 and, in reverse, 15.54 to 2.64. The clutch is a diaphragm-spring single-disc unit of 430 mm (17 in). A transmission-mounted power take-off is standard on both editions. How this type of gearbox works is set out in automated manual transmissions.
Axles, suspension and brakes
The front axle is of I-section steel (forged steel, “Dövme Çelik”, on the Turkish page), rated at 7,500 kg and carried on parabolic springs with telescopic dampers. The rear axle is rated at 13,000 kg and air-suspended with four air bellows and ECAS, also with telescopic dampers; the Turkish page’s rear-axle row words it “4 Nokta Hava Süspansiyon” (four-point air suspension). How ECAS works is set out in ECAS air suspension explained. Both axles carry an anti-roll bar. The final drive ratio is 2.533:1 as standard and 3.08:1 as an option, and a differential lock is standard.
The brakes are air-operated discs (“Tam Havalı”, full air, on the Turkish page), given as Ø430x45, with ABS, EBS, ASR, ESC, AEBS, HSA and EPB listed in the same row. The auxiliary brakes are the engine brake at 359 kW and the Intarder at 600 kW; the two kinds of endurance brake are described in retarders and engine braking. Steering is a Bosch electro-hydraulic power steering system (EHPS), which the release of 15 September 2026 describes with adjustable steering wheel height and reach.
The chassis frame is a C-section in 8 mm high-strength steel, which the Turkish page calls single-piece (“Tek Parça”) and the English page “Monocoque”. Tyres are 315/70 R22.5 as standard and 315/80 R22.5 as an option, each listed as “6+1”. The English page gives 9 x 22.5 steel wheels with ten wheel nuts as standard and aluminium wheels as an option; the Turkish page has no wheel row and lists aluminium wheels (“Alüminyum Jant”) among its standard equipment. The fifth wheel sits at 1,200 mm as standard and 1,250 mm as an option; the tyre rows give the 1,250 mm height only with the optional 315/80 R22.5 tyres.
