The Procity is BMC’s low-floor city bus. BMC’s overview page offers the Procity family “with Diesel, CNG and EV options in 10.7 m, 12 m and 18 m sizes”, and its technical page gives each version a tab of its own. This page covers the five diesel and CNG tabs: the 10.7 m diesel, the 12 m diesel, the 12 m CNG, the 18 m diesel and the 18 m CNG. The electric 12 m and 18 m buses, which BMC names PROCITY+, are covered on the BMC Procity+ Electric page. This page is built from BMC’s English Procity technical specifications and overview pages, both undated and read on 27 October 2026, and BMC news items of 2 and 9 October 2025.
Range and exhibitions
The overview page lists six models: 10.7 Meter Diesel, 12 Meter Diesel, 12 Meter CNG, 18 Meter Diesel, 18 Meter CNG and 12 Meter EV. On 2 October 2025 BMC announced that it would exhibit at Busworld Europe 2025 in Brussels from 4 to 9 October 2025, in Hall 3, Booth 306, and named the PROCITY 12M Diesel among the models it would show, beside the NEOCITY 8.5M EV, the PROCITY+ 12M EV and the PROCITY+ 18M EV. Its news item of 9 October 2025 reports that BMC took part in the exhibition. No BMC document opened gives a start of production for the Procity or presents an earlier generation of it. The drives a city bus can have, and the EU rules around them, are set out in city bus propulsion.
Engines
BMC’s technical page names a Cummins engine on every tab: a 6.7-litre six-cylinder diesel on the 10.7 m and 12 m diesel buses, and an 8.9-litre six-cylinder engine on the 18 m diesel and on both CNG buses. Every engine is described as turbocharged with an intercooler.
| Tab | Engine | Fuel | Displacement | Maximum power | Maximum torque |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10.7 m diesel | Cummins B6.7 E6 | diesel | 6.7 l, 6 cylinders | 204 kW (280 hp) at 2,100 rpm | 1,082 Nm at 1,400 rpm |
| 12 m diesel | Cummins B6,7 E6E | diesel | 6.7 l, 6 cylinders | 209 kW at 2,100 rpm | 1,100 Nm at 1,000 rpm |
| 12 m CNG | Cummins L9NE6E | CNG | 8.9 l, 6 cylinders | 235 kW (320 hp) at 2,000 rpm | 1,357 Nm at 1,300–1,400 rpm |
| 18 m diesel | Cummins L9 E6 | diesel | 8.9 l, 6 cylinders | 269 kW (370 hp) at 2,100 rpm | 1,584 Nm at 1,300 rpm |
| 18 m CNG | Cummins L9N E6E | CNG | 8.9 l, 6 cylinders | 235 kW (320 hp) at 2,000 rpm | 1,357 Nm at 1,300–1,400 rpm |
The two 6.7-litre engines carry different designations and ratings: “Cummins B6.7 E6” on the 10.7 m tab and “Cummins / B6,7 E6E” on the 12 m tab, which gives no horsepower figure. The two CNG tabs give the gas engine the same ratings and write it “Cummins L9NE6E” on the 12 m tab and “Cummins L9N E6E” on the 18 m tab. The 6.7-litre engine family is covered on the Cummins B6.7 engine page.
BMC’s overview page describes the engines under the heading “Environment Friendly Engine” and refers to the Euro 6 norm. Its engine panel names a gas engine with a different designation from the technical page’s: “Cummins ISL G 320 E6 OBD C”, turbocharged with an intercooler, at “239 KW (320 HP) @ 2000 rpm” and “1356 NM @ 1300 rpm”, with a six-forward, one-reverse automatic gearbox. The same page’s model cards give the 10.7 m diesel a torque of “832 Nm @ 1400 d/dk” and the 12 m, whose card gives a CNG engine type, “1082 Nm @ 1400 rpm”; the technical page gives 1,082 Nm for the 10.7 m diesel and 1,357 Nm for the 12 m CNG. Neither page reconciles the figures.
Transmission
Every diesel and CNG tab gives a ZF automatic gearbox with six forward gears and one reverse. The 10.7 m tab names it “ZF Ecolife 2 Auto”, the 12 m CNG tab “ZF 6AP 1400B Ecolife”, the 18 m CNG tab “ZF 6AP 1420B Ecolife 2” and the 18 m diesel tab “ZF 6AP 1720B Ecolife 2”; the 12 m diesel tab gives “ZF, Automatic” without a type. Each tab lists a hydraulic retarder as the auxiliary brake, described with the brakes below.
Axles, suspension, steering and brakes
Every tab gives a ZF front axle with a load capacity of 8,200 kg and a ZF rear axle of 13,000 kg; the two 18 m tabs add a ZF portal middle axle of 11,500 kg. The rear axle is a portal axle on every tab except the 18 m diesel, whose rear axle row reads “ZF” only. The front axle is independent on the 10.7 m and both 18 m tabs; on the 12 m diesel and 12 m CNG tabs a rigid ZF front axle is standard and an independent one optional. These are per-axle load capacities as BMC prints them.
The suspension is air bellows with hydraulic shock absorbers: two of each on the front axle and four of each on the rear axle; on the 18 m tabs the row for the middle and rear axles reads “Air Bellows (4), Hydraulic Absorbers (4)”. Every tab lists side kneeling (ECAS). The 10.7 m, 12 m CNG and both 18 m tabs also list ECAS (electronically controlled air suspension) among the standard equipment; the 12 m diesel tab lists right-side kneeling (ECAS) instead, and an anti-roll bar on the rear axle, which no other diesel or CNG tab lists. How ECAS holds a bus at a set ride height is set out in ECAS air suspension explained. Steering is hydraulic on every tab.
Every tab gives disc brakes. The 10.7 m, 12 m CNG and both 18 m tabs give air-controlled discs at the front and rear with EBS/ASR; the 12 m diesel tab lists air-operated disc brakes, an air-operated parking brake and EBS/ABS, with a hill holder among its standard equipment. The auxiliary brake is a hydraulic retarder (Intarder), activated via a hand lever and the brake pedal; the 10.7 m and 18 m diesel tabs write “and/or”. Electronic stability control (ESC) is an option on the 10.7 m, 12 m diesel and 12 m CNG tabs; the 18 m tabs do not list it. How a retarder works is set out in retarders and engine braking explained.
Every tab gives 275/70 R22.5 tyres on 8.25 x 22.5 rims. The 18 m tabs give ten tyres, and the 18 m diesel tab describes them as tubeless.
