FPT F1C 3.0-litre engine: versions, fuels, ratings and the vehicles that use it
FPT Industrial's 3.0-litre four-cylinder F1C as a diesel and as the F1C NG gas engine: its Euro VI E and E2 ratings as FPT states them and the Iveco Daily that uses it.

The F1C is a 3.0-litre, four-cylinder in-line engine built by FPT Industrial, the powertrain brand of the Iveco Group, for light commercial vehicles and minibuses. It comes as a diesel, certified to Euro VI E, and as a natural-gas engine, the F1C NG, certified to Euro VI E2. FPT’s release of 16 September 2024 says: “Around two million units have been sold worldwide since 2003”. On this site it is the 3.0-litre engine of the Iveco Daily.
Status as of 26 October 2026. FPT Industrial’s F1C and F1C NG product pages, its on-road engine brochure and its 2024 leaflet of bus engines were read on 26 October 2026, together with five press releases from FPT Industrial and the Iveco Group dated 2021 to 2024.
What the engine is
FPT Industrial signs its pages as “a brand of Iveco Group”. Its on-road brochure lists the F1 series for light commercial vehicles as three engine models: “F1A (4 cyl., 2.3 L)”, “F1C (4 cyl., 3 L)” and “F1C NG (4 cyl., 3L)”. The F1C NG page puts it the same way: “The F1 family includes the F1C NG engine (3.0 l)”. FPT’s 2024 release gives the F1C’s technical specifications as “Engine displacement (l): 3.0” and “Cylinder arrangement: 4 in-line”; the rating cards on FPT’s product pages give “4L / 4” for cylinders and valves, and the brochure’s legend reads the L as “In line vertical”.
| Item | Diesel (F1C) | Natural gas (F1C NG) |
|---|---|---|
| Displacement | 3 l (183 cubic inches) | 3 l (183 cubic inches) |
| Cylinders | 4 in line, 4 valves per cylinder | 4 in line, 4 valves per cylinder |
| Bore x stroke | 96 x 104 mm | 96 x 104 mm |
| Fuel system | ECR (electronic common rail), up to 2,000 bar | MPI (multi-point injection) |
| Turbocharger | VGT (variable geometry); e-VGT (electronic variable geometry) on the 152 kW rating | WG (fixed geometry with waste gate valve) |
| Aftertreatment | EGR - DOC - SCRoF - SCR - CUC | Three-way catalyst with CPF, without EGR |
| Emission class | Euro VI E | Euro VI E2 |
| Ratings stated by FPT | 95 kW (127 HP) to 152 kW (207 HP) | 100 kW (136 HP) |
| Dry weight | 257 kg | 245 kg |
| Length x width x height | 858 x 704 x 739 mm | 745 x 695 x 750 mm |
The table comes from the rating cards on FPT’s F1C and F1C NG pages; FPT notes that the “Dimensions can be changed according to engine options”. The injection pressure is from the F1C page’s text, which names “high-pressure (up to 2000 bar) Common Rail technology”, and the brochure’s datasheet, which prints “ECR2,000bar”. In FPT’s legend, EGR is external exhaust gas recirculation, DOC a diesel oxidation catalyst, SCRoF selective catalytic reduction on filter, CUC a clean-up catalyst and CPF a CNG particulate filter. The F1C page calls the diesel’s system “an ATS system with dual SCR” and says Euro VI-E compliance “is ensured by the EGR + DOC + SCRoF + SCR + CUC solution”; how SCR and AdBlue work is set out in SCR and AdBlue.
FPT’s release of 11 November 2022 says F1C engines “feature dual mass flywheel, multiple fuel injection, suspended oil pan and bed-plate in addition to the engine block”, and FPT’s product page names a duplex timing chain. The F1C page also says that “All F1C engines are available for both transverse and longitudinal installation” and that “All F1C engines are approved for heavy duty use”.
Fuels: diesel, HVO and natural gas
The diesel F1C runs on diesel fuel, and FPT’s September 2024 release says it “is HVO-ready across the entire range”. The renewable diesel HVO is described in What is HVO?.
The F1C NG burns natural gas with what FPT calls “multi-point stoichiometric combustion”. FPT says it is “100% compatible with biomethane without any modifications” and is built around a “solution without exhaust gas recirculation (EGR)” with “a fixed-geometry turbocharger with a water-cooled wastegate valve”. FPT’s 2021 release calls the gas engine of the new Daily “the 3.0 liter CNG version”, and the Daily’s record on this site lists it as F1C CNG. FPT’s brochure says that “All FPT engine families are compatible with CNG, LNG and Bio-Methane”; the F1C NG page itself names natural gas and biomethane only. Methane as a truck fuel, in its compressed and liquefied forms and as biomethane, is covered in LNG and bio-LNG trucks. The F1C NG page adds that the engine is “optimized for integration with the Hi-Matic automatic transmission”.
FPT’s release for the CIIE fair in Shanghai, dated 11 November 2022, says of the F1C Euro VI Step E: “Available in diesel, methane and hybrid versions”. It gives no details of the hybrid version, and the product pages do not list one.
Ratings as FPT states them
FPT’s F1C page carries seven rating cards for the diesel, all marked “Certification: Euro VI E”, and the F1C NG page one card marked “Euro VI E2”. The F1C page’s headline figure is “up to 152 kW (207 hp) and 470 Nm”, with “470 Nm at 1400 rpm/min” from the e-VGT rating.
| Version | Power | Torque | Turbocharger | Certification |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| F1C | 95 kW (127 HP) at 3,400 rpm | 430 Nm at 1,500 rpm | VGT | Euro VI E |
| F1C | 96 kW (130 HP) at 2,620 rpm | 350 Nm at 1,400 rpm | VGT | Euro VI E |
| F1C | 110 kW (150 HP) at 2,620 rpm | 400 Nm at 1,600 rpm | VGT | Euro VI E |
| F1C | 118 kW (160 HP) at 3,500 rpm | 400 Nm at 1,500 rpm | VGT | Euro VI E |
| F1C | 129 kW (175 HP) at 2,865 rpm | 430 Nm at 1,600 rpm | VGT | Euro VI E |
| F1C | 129 kW (175 HP) at 3,500 rpm | 430 Nm at 1,600 rpm | VGT | Euro VI E |
| F1C | 152 kW (207 HP) at 3,500 rpm | 470 Nm at 1,400 rpm | e-VGT | Euro VI E |
| F1C NG | 100 kW (136 HP) at 3,500 rpm | 350 Nm at 1,500 rpm | WG | Euro VI E2 |
Two cards share 129 kW (175 HP) and 430 Nm at 1,600 rpm; one gives the power at 2,865 rpm, the other at 3,500 rpm. FPT’s on-road brochure sums the diesel up as “From 127 to 207 hp”. FPT’s 2024 bus leaflet lists the F1C under “MINIBUS” with six of the seven diesel ratings, all but 118 kW (160 HP), and the F1C NG at 100 kW (136 HP); it prints “EuroVIE” for the gas engine where the F1C NG page says Euro VI E2.
The press releases give figures of their own. FPT’s news item of 30 June 2021 gives the 3.0-litre F1C in the new Daily “power output from 160 HP to 207 HP” and its CNG version “136 HP and its torque of 350 Nm”. FPT’s release of 16 November 2023 says F1C engines reach “up to 210 HP” and “up to 470 Nm”, where the product page and the 2024 release give 207 hp. FPT’s Brazilian release of 24 March 2022 gives the F1C Euro VI in the Volkswagen Delivery Express+ light truck “156 cavalos e 360 Nm de torque”, with “uma calibração exclusiva para o modelo” (a calibration of its own for that model). FPT states power in kW and HP, its Brazilian release in cavalos; how kilowatts, the horsepower units and torque relate, and why each figure carries an engine speed, is set out in how to read a truck’s power figures.
Emission classes
On FPT’s product pages the diesel F1C is certified Euro VI E and the F1C NG meets “Euro VI Step E2 with a simple after-treatment system (three-way catalyst with CPF and without EGR)”. FPT’s 2021 news item, on the 2.3-litre F1A and the 3.0-litre F1C in the new Daily, says: “Both diesel engines comply with the Euro 6-D Final and Euro VI-E standards”. The Arabic-numeral Euro 6 is the light-duty standard for the whole vehicle and the Roman-numeral Euro VI the heavy-duty standard for the engine; both, and what step E added, are explained in Euro VI and Euro 7.
FPT’s 2024 release says the F1C has been “meeting global emission standards such as EuVI, GBVI, JP24, and PROCONVE P8”. Its Brazilian release of 24 March 2022 says the engine for the Delivery Express+ was prepared for the “fase P8 do Programa de Controle de Emissões Veiculares (PROCONVE)”, Brazil’s vehicle emission control programme.

Trucks and buses on this site with the FPT F1C (3.0-litre)
One model on this site names the F1C in its engine record: the Iveco Daily, with a diesel and a natural-gas entry.
| Model | Engine as recorded | Power (kW) | Torque (Nm) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Iveco Daily | F1C (3.0-litre diesel) | 118–152 | 400–470 |
| Iveco Daily | F1C CNG (3.0-litre natural gas) | 100 | 350 |
The figures are those of the Daily’s own page and the Iveco documents it cites, not FPT’s engine-level ratings, so the diesel band covers the ratings the Daily record lists and not FPT’s full span from 95 kW. The Volkswagen Delivery Express+, which FPT’s 2022 Brazilian release names, has no page on this site.
