The MX-13 is offered in three steps: 315, 355 and 390 kW. The MX-11 is offered in a single power step in the XG+ range. Its multi-torque function drops to 2,200 Nm in the lower gears. The 390 kW step of the MX-13 runs to 1,675 rpm rather than 1,600.

The XG+ is the top of the New Generation DAF range, in production since late 2021. It is a separate model from the XG and from the XF below it, and the difference is cab volume — this is the tallest and longest cab DAF builds, made possible by the European length rules that came into force with this generation.

Two engines, and one of them has a single setting

The PACCAR MX-11 at 10.8 litres appears in the XG+ in exactly one power step: 330 kW, 2,350 Nm at 1,600 rpm. That is unusual — most makers offer a lighter engine across several outputs — and it tells you how DAF positions it here. It is the weight-saving option for operators who want the cab without the 13-litre.

The PACCAR MX-13 at 12.9 litres is the volume engine, in three steps: 315, 355 and 390 kW, with 2,300–2,700 Nm. The top step runs to 1,675 rpm rather than the 1,600 of the two below it.

Both drive through a 12-speed ZF TraXon automated gearbox.

Multi-torque, and why the number moves

The MX-11’s torque figure is not constant across the gearbox. Its multi-torque function drops output to 2,200 Nm in the lower gears and releases the full 2,350 higher up. A spec sheet showing one number is showing the peak; the engine behaves differently depending on which gear it is in, by design, to protect the driveline.

On the emission class

DAF states “Euro 6” on its own specification sheets with no sub-step. Where other manufacturers publish 6e or VI-E, DAF does not, and this page does not infer one.

Buying used

The XG+ badge is worth verifying rather than assuming: XG and XG+ share a great deal and differ in cab dimensions, and the price difference is real. Check the registration documents rather than the exterior.

Establish which MX engine is fitted and which power step. On the MX-13 the three steps are close on paper and separate in fuel over a year. Air system components including the compressor follow the usual high-mileage replacement pattern for the class.
