The biggest trucks and buses in the world: payload, length and power
The BELAZ-75710's 450 T payload, a 1,474.3 m Guinness road train, a 32.20 m bus and Volvo's 28 m BZRT: the biggest by payload, length and power, as makers and Guinness print them.

The biggest truck in the world by payload, on its maker’s figures, is the BELAZ-75710, a two-axle mining dump truck with 450 T of load capacity and 810 T gross weight; BelAZ’s English home page describes it as having the highest payload capacity in the world. The longest truck combination in Guinness World Records is a Mack Titan that towed 113 trailers, 1,474.3 m in all, at Clifton, Queensland, on 18 February 2006. The longest bus in Guinness is the 32.20 m DAF Super CityTrain of Kinshasa, listed under 1989. In makers’ current ranges, Volvo gives its bi-articulated BZRT Electric as 28 m long and Mercedes-Benz its single-joint CapaCity L as 20,995 mm. Among road trucks, the highest power rating printed on the pages read is the Volvo FH16’s 780 hp (574 kW).
Status as at 5 November 2026. Read on that day: BelAZ’s press text of 27 June 2025 and its English home page; the Liebherr T 284 product page and Komatsu’s 980E-5SE and 980E-5 product pages; six Guinness World Records entries; Mercedes-Benz’s CapaCity page and its data PDF of 04/2026; Volvo Buses’ BZRT Electric specifications and its press releases of 30 May 2024, 13 May 2025 and 5 February 2026, which are in Swedish; and the Volvo FH16, Scania S-series and MAN TGX specifications. The Guinness pages carry no publication date and note that records change daily and are not immediately published online. The other ratings in the power table are those on the model pages it links.

Two other senses of the word have pages of their own. Largest by units sold is the subject of the largest truck manufacturers in the world. The longest vehicles that national rules allow on public roads are set out in long truck combinations; Guinness has an entry on them too, Longest trucks on public roads, which names Australian road trains.
Mining dump trucks
The largest payloads found belong to trucks built for mines, which their makers call mining trucks or mining dump trucks. Road tippers, a truck chassis with a body builder’s body, are covered in tipper trucks. For scale, Directive 96/53/EC gives most five- and six-axle road combinations 40 tonnes in international traffic, as set out in truck weights.

BelAZ’s press text of 27 June 2025 gives two more facts about the BELAZ-75710: it has all-wheel drive on its two axles, and it transported a peak of 503.5 tons during tests. The same text says that in 2014 BelAZ received Guinness certificates for two records, the largest two-axle dump truck and the most capacious body among mining equipment. No page for either record was found on the Guinness World Records site on 5 November 2026, so here both rest on BelAZ’s statement.
According to that text, the first BELAZ-75710 has ended its service life at the Chernigovets coal mine in Kuzbass and is now an exhibit at the Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company’s museum complex in Verkhnyaya Pyshma, where the cover photograph was taken. Another stood at the BelExpo exhibition centre in Minsk during the Eurasian Economic Union summit of June 2025.
Komatsu’s 980E-5 product page says its electric-drive dump trucks come in six sizes, from 200 to 400 tons of haul capacity.
Road train and semi-truck records
Longest road train. At Clifton, Queensland, on 18 February 2006, a single Mack Titan prime mover driven by John Atkinson towed 113 trailers for about 150 m. Guinness gives the length as 1,474.3 m (4,836 ft 11 in).
Largest semi-truck. Guinness names the Tractomas TR 10 x 10 D100 of Nicolas Industrie SAS, France, launched on 28 October 2005, with a total weight of 71 tonnes, 12,620 mm long, 3,480 mm wide and 4,515 mm high. These are Guinness’s figures; no Nicolas Industrie document was opened. The rules for loads beyond the normal limits are in low-loader trailers and abnormal loads.
Largest automated truck. A Guinness entry listed under 2008 records engineers from Caterpillar and computer scientists from Carnegie Mellon University teaming up to automate 700-ton trucks made to haul loads of up to 240 tons from mines. Its holder field reads Unknown and it names no model.
Road trucks: the highest power ratings
For scale, the Liebherr T 284 above is rated at 2,720 kW and the Komatsu 980E-5SE at 3,281 kW; the highest road-truck figure below is 574 kW.

Guinness has two entries with two holders. Longest bus names the DAF Super CityTrain of Kinshasa, introduced in 1989 after the national bus company collapsed; its 350 official places are 110 seated and 140 standing in the first trailer and 60 seated and 40 standing in the second, and the tractor unit is limited to 42 km/h (26 mph). Longest bus, non-commercial operations, names the AutoTram Extra Grand, from a joint venture of Fraunhofer IVI, the Technical University of Dresden and Wittur Electric Drive GmbH, in pilot operation in Dresden as of February 2014. That second entry calls its holder the longest bus in the world; the first holder is 1.47 m longer. Neither page gives a later status.
Volvo says Goiânia in Brazil is the first city in the world with a fleet of electric bi-articulated buses in regular service: its release of 5 February 2026 names 5 bi-articulated and 16 articulated buses on BZRT chassis with Marcopolo bodies. Each has two 200 kW motors, and the bi-articulated buses carry up to 720 kWh. Volvo announced the start of chassis production at Curitiba on 13 May 2025. Its release of 30 May 2024 says it introduced the bi-articulated concept more than 30 years earlier and that about a dozen Latin American cities have since used a combination of articulated and bi-articulated buses.
Mercedes-Benz’s data PDF prints the same width and height for both CapaCity lengths, 2,550 mm and 3,095 mm, and OM 470 engines of 265 or 290 kW. Its model page says both manage with one articulation joint and a steered fourth axle.
Annex I of Directive 96/53/EC gives an articulated bus a maximum length of 18.75 m, and every bus in the table is longer; the limits and their reach are in bus and coach dimensions. Article 1(3) says the Directive “shall not apply to articulated buses comprising more than one articulated section”. The Mercedes-Benz pages read do not name the countries where the CapaCity L runs. Articulated buses within the limit are on model pages such as the Mercedes-Benz Citaro and the Volvo 7900 Electric.
