Launch and production
Daimler Truck’s release of 30 March 2026 says that the eArocs 400 “celebrated its world premiere last year at bauma in Munich”, the construction-machinery trade fair, and that Mercedes-Benz Trucks would begin sales in April 2026, adding the construction segment to its electric range. Customers in an initial 13 EU markets could order the model from the date of the release. The same release schedules the start of production for the third quarter of 2026: the base vehicle is to be built at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Wörth am Rhein, followed by integration of the electric drivetrain by Paul Group, headquartered in Vilshofen an der Donau. No document opened reports that series production has started.
The two earlier releases place the presentation at bauma 2025. The release of 13 May 2025, on new variants based on the eActros 600, says: “From 2026, a small series of the new eArocs 400 for urban construction haulage, recently presented at Bauma 2025, will be launched.” The release of 30 September 2025, presenting the eActros 400, says that the eArocs 400 “will be launched next year”.
The eArocs 400 takes key components from the second-generation Mercedes-Benz eActros portfolio, which the release of 30 March 2026 names as the front box, the power take-off (PTO) and the LFP battery technology; the eActros 600 has its own page. Its hypoid and planetary axles come from the Arocs. The release describes it as initially offered in two versions, and names dump bodies and concrete mixer bodies among its applications and low- and zero-emission zones as places it can operate; it states that the truck’s low noise emissions suit it to residential areas and night-time construction sites. The bodies themselves are covered in truck mixers and concrete pumps.
Electric drive and transmission
The eArocs 400 has no combustion engine. Drive comes from a central motor with an integrated 3-speed transmission, which the technical-data table lists as a “Central motor concept with 3‑speed transmission”. Continuous output is 380 kW and peak output 450 kW. The vehicle operates with an 800-volt on-board electrical architecture. No document opened gives a motor torque, a gearbox ratio or an axle ratio.
Daimler Truck states that, through higher efficiency and additional energy-saving potential, for example recuperation and electrically powered body functions, the eArocs 400 is “at least 50 percent more energy‑efficient than a comparable diesel truck”. The product page gives at least 50 % less energy consumption than comparable diesel vehicles.
Axles, suspension and chassis
The axle formula is 8x4/4, with tandem drive axles. The technical-data table lists hypoid or external planetary axles, and the press release gives steel suspension on the front and rear axles. Daimler Truck describes the frame and the steel suspension as proven components, and says that, combined with the Arocs axles, the vehicle offers the ground clearance and off-road capability required for construction-site operations. The truck is offered on four wheelbases: 4,550, 4,850, 5,150 and 5,450 mm. The notation is set out in axle configurations explained.
Battery, range and charging
The truck carries two LFP battery packs of 207 kWh each, 414 kWh installed in total, housed in a battery tower behind the cab. Mercedes-Benz footnotes the figure as the nominal capacity of a new battery, based on internally defined framework conditions, which may vary with the application and the environmental conditions. No document opened gives a usable capacity for the eArocs 400. Daimler Truck says the LFP technology offers a long service life and particularly high usable capacity.
Two range figures are published, one for each body. As a concrete mixer the eArocs 400 has a range of up to 200 km, and as a construction tipper up to 240 km. Both come from internal simulations with an 8x4 vehicle at a permissible gross vehicle weight of 32 t in 8-hour operation (mixer drum operation for the first, tipper operation for the second) at an outside temperature of 20 °C, and Mercedes-Benz states that both may deviate from the values determined under Regulation (EU) 2017/2400. How such figures are stated is covered in how electric-truck range is declared.
The truck charges at up to 400 kW through a CCS2 charging interface, which Daimler Truck says is available on both sides of the vehicle. The two packs take approximately 46 minutes to charge from 10 to 80 percent; the footnote bases that time on the conditions defined in ISO/SAE 12906 for heavy commercial vehicles, with 400 kW charging power at a typical DC fast-charging station with 500 A. Charging power classes and connectors are set out in charging electric trucks and buses.
Dimensions and weights
| Version | Technical gross vehicle weight | Axle loads as printed | Unladen weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| 37 t version | 37 t | 9 / 9 / 9.5 / 9.5 t | approx. 13.2 t |
| 44 t version | 44 t | 9 / 9 / 13 / 13 t | approx. 13.9 t |
The unladen weights are footnoted as depending on the equipment. The technically permissible gross combination weight is 44 t, and the table marks the truck as trailer-capable. The difference between gross vehicle and gross combination weight is set out in gross vehicle and gross combination weight. No document opened gives an overall length, width or height, a turning circle or a payload for the eArocs 400.
Cab and cockpit
The cab is the M cab ClassicSpace, 2.3 m wide. Daimler Truck describes it as fully galvanized, with additional storage options and an optional berth, and says that it enables maximum body length.
The Multimedia Cockpit Interactive 2 combines a touchscreen, an ergonomic switch panel and voice control; Mercedes-Benz describes the touchscreen and the switch panel as operable even on uneven terrain. Applications are reached through a favourites menu, and the integrated navigation for eTrucks shows charging options along the route. The product page also lists Fleetboard Charge Management, Fleetboard Mapping and Fleetboard Logbook, TruckLive and the My TruckPoint customer portal for the eArocs.
Safety and driver-assistance systems
The technical-data table and the press release name three systems: Active Sideguard Assist 2, Active Brake Assist 6 Plus and Front Guard Assist. The table footnotes each as standard in the EU for certain vehicle configurations, and adds that with optional equipment S2J the deactivation of Active Brake Assist 6 Plus can be prevented.
The safety section of the same product pages describes five systems, naming the side system in its third generation. Mercedes-Benz states that Active Brake Assist 6 Plus already fulfils the AEBS (Advanced Emergency Braking System) legislation that comes into force in September 2028, uses 270° sensor fusion for expanded environmental detection, with which greater accident prevention can be achieved for vehicles up to 90 km/h and for pedestrians and cyclists up to 60 km/h, and indicates when it is not yet fully active. Active Sideguard Assist 3 monitors the driver and front-passenger sides and the area in front of the vehicle, can detect oncoming road users at up to 120 km/h and can initiate an automated braking intervention up to a vehicle speed of 20 km/h. Frontguard Assist monitors the area in front of the vehicle up to 15 km/h, for example at a standstill, when moving off or at junctions, and gives a two-stage hazard warning if it detects moving objects such as people. Attention Assist 2 records the driver’s visual attention and level of fatigue with an integrated camera and warns visually and acoustically; Mercedes-Benz states that all data remains inside the vehicle. Active Cross Traffic Assist uses the same 270° sensor fusion, with camera and radar sensors on the front, corners and sides, to detect crossing vehicles at up to 120 km/h, warns on the relevant side, can brake partially and, if the driver does not react, can trigger automated full braking.
The table and the press release name Active Sideguard Assist 2, while the safety section of the same pages describes Active Sideguard Assist 3. The table spells the front system “Front Guard Assist”, the safety section “Frontguard Assist”.
Source notes
The technical figures are from three documents: the eArocs 400 product page on the Mercedes-Benz Trucks international site (English) and on the German site, both undated and read on 27 October 2026, which carry the same technical-data table, and Daimler Truck’s press release of 30 March 2026. The type designation is 964.930 and the axle formula 8x4/4, on four wheelbases: 4,550, 4,850, 5,150 and 5,450 mm. Two versions are offered, at a technical gross vehicle weight of 37 t (axle loads 9, 9, 9.5 and 9.5 t) and 44 t (9, 9, 13 and 13 t); the technically permissible gross combination weight is 44 t, trailer-capable. Unladen weight is approximately 13.2 t for the 37 t version and 13.9 t for the 44 t version, depending on the equipment. The two LFP battery packs hold 207 kWh each, 414 kWh installed in total, stated as the nominal capacity of a new battery; no document gives a usable capacity for the eArocs 400. The range is up to 200 km as a concrete mixer and up to 240 km as a construction tipper, both from internal simulations with an 8x4 vehicle at 32 t permissible gross vehicle weight in 8-hour operation at 20 °C, and both may deviate from values determined under Regulation (EU) 2017/2400. Charging over CCS2 reaches 400 kW; 10 to 80 percent takes approximately 46 minutes under the ISO/SAE 12906 conditions for heavy commercial vehicles, at 400 kW and 500 A. The central motor gives 380 kW continuous and 450 kW peak through an integrated 3-speed transmission, on an 800-volt architecture. The technical-data tables and the press release name Active Sideguard Assist 2; the safety section of the same product pages describes Active Sideguard Assist 3. No document gives an overall length, width or height, a turning circle, a payload or a motor torque for the eArocs 400. The press release schedules production of the base vehicle at Wörth am Rhein from the third quarter of 2026, with the electric drivetrain integrated by Paul Group. Two earlier Daimler Truck releases, of 13 May 2025 and 30 September 2025, say that the eArocs 400 was presented at Bauma 2025; the first says that a small series would be launched from 2026.
