The X-Way is the light off-road truck of Iveco’s heavy WAY range, beside the on-road S-Way and the off-road T-Way. Iveco’s 2021 releases list the Eurocargo from 6 to 19 tons and, in the heavy segment above 16 tons, the IVECO WAY range; the release of 28 April 2021 sets the X-WAY in applications “where the truck works 90% of the time on the road”, with the last mile off road to the job site. It is sold as a rigid and as an articulated tractor (artic), with Cursor 9 and XCursor 13 diesel engines and, on a 4x2 tractor, an XCursor 13 natural-gas engine.
The figures on this page come from Iveco’s X-Way brochure for model year 2024 (publication H2332501MASTER, 11/23) and the one for model year 2026 (publication H2645701MASTER, 07/26), from Iveco UK’s X-Way, X-Way Rigid, X-Way Artic and “New IVECO X-Way Range 2026” pages as read on 17 October 2026, from Iveco press releases of 2017, 2021 and 2023, and from FPT Industrial’s Cursor 9 and XCursor 13 engine pages and its release of 16 November 2023.
Earlier generations and model years
Iveco previewed the Stralis X-WAY at its Madrid plant on 2 June 2017, in a release dated 5 June 2017 in which Iveco’s brand president describes it as combining “the legendary Trakker chassis strength with all the fuel saving and safety features of the New Stralis”. That release lists engines in three displacements, 9, 11 and 13 litres, with Hi-SCR aftertreatment and no EGR; a Super Loader (SL) version on an 8x4 chassis “with a kerb weight as low as 9 tonnes”; AD, AT and AS cabs; production at the Madrid plant; and availability through Iveco dealers across Europe from September 2017.
The IVECO X-WAY of the WAY range followed. Iveco UK’s release of 10 November 2021 says it was “Launched in 2021, as a tractor or rigid”, and its release of 29 September 2021 calls it the “perfect crossing” between the on-road comfort of the new S-WAY and the toughness needed for last-mile work away from the beaten track. Two vehicles in those releases carry the Cursor 11 (11.1 litres in the November release): at 420 hp and 2,000 Nm in an 8x4 tipper-grab (AD360X42Z/P OFF, 5,020 mm wheelbase) and at 460 hp and 2,150 Nm in an 8x2x6 crane rigid (AD350X46Y/PS ON, 6,050 mm wheelbase), each with a 12-speed HI-TRONIX automated gearbox.
Model year 2024 came with Iveco’s new Way Range on 15 November 2023, a launch FPT Industrial’s release of the next day calls the “new IVECO Model Year 24 range”. Iveco’s release introduces the XCursor 13, gives the natural-gas S-Way and X-Way 500 hp and 2,200 Nm, and upgrades the AS cab of both with a new interior; it calls the Cursor 11 “discontinued”, and the MY2024 tables list only the Cursor 9 and XCursor 13. Iveco UK now presents a “New IVECO X-Way Range 2026” in the grey colour scheme it uses across its range, and the MY2026 brochure prints the same engine and line-up tables as the MY2024 brochure except for one torque band. Outside the tables, the MY2026 brochure lists ADDW where the MY2024 brochure lists DDAW, names GPS Predictive Drive as standard and an airbag, which the MY2024 brochure does not, calls its Highway Assist “new” and “with Lane Centring”, and drops the MY2024 brochure’s durability figure.
ON, ON+ and OFF set-ups
Each X-Way is built in one of three set-ups. ON and ON+ carry on-road approval (N3); ON+ adds an approach angle and ground clearance “higher than ON configuration” and improved protection of the bumpers. OFF carries off-road approval (N3G), and Iveco UK’s set-up panel gives it an approach angle of more than 25 degrees. In the line-up tables OFF is listed with the AT and AD cabs only, on the rigid 4x2, 6x4, 8x4 (1+3) and 8x4 (2+2) and on both diesel tractors; the rigid 6x2P is ON or ON+, the 6x2P (Twin) and the 8x2x6 ON only, and the natural-gas tractor ON or ON+. On a 2021 vehicle, Iveco UK describes the ON+ set-up as offering “a minimal 72mm axle drop for additional ground clearance”.
Cabs
Three cabs are offered: the full-width AS sleeper with a low or high roof, the compact AT sleeper with a low or high roof, and the AD day cab. The engine and line-up tables tie each cab to engines and chassis. The AS cab takes the 460, 500 and 580 hp XCursor 13 and the natural-gas XC13G; the AT and AD cabs take the three Cursor 9 steps and the 460, 500 and 540 hp XCursor 13; and the rigid 4x2 is listed without the AS cab. Iveco’s 15 November 2023 release gives the AS cab of the S-Way and X-Way a new interior design, a customisable dashboard, a TFT instrument cluster, infotainment and mirrorless rear-view cameras.
Engines
Iveco publishes one diesel and one natural-gas engine table for the X-Way. All three engines are built by FPT Industrial, Iveco Group’s engine brand.

The table is the MY2024 brochure’s. The Cursor 9 (C9) is the 8.7-litre in three steps, offered with the AT and AD cabs only. The XCursor 13 (XC13) is the 12.9-litre in four steps; the 460 and 500 hp steps take any cab, the 540 hp step the AT and AD cabs and the 580 hp step the AS cab only. FPT’s rating cards give both engines six cylinders in line with four valves each, peak power at a single 1,650 rpm on the XC13 ratings in Iveco’s table and 2,200 rpm on the C9, a bore and stroke of 135 x 150 mm on the XC13 and 117 x 135 mm on the C9, common-rail injection at 2,500 bar on the XC13, an aftertreatment of DOC + DPF + SCR + CUC, and dry weights of 1,018 kg and 860 kg. FPT writes the 251 kW Cursor 9 rating as 341 HP where Iveco’s table says 340 hp. Iveco’s brochures credit the XCursor 13 with a 10% lower engine weight, and the MY2024 brochure with durability of up to 1.6 million kilometres, 33% greater than its predecessor.
The documents differ on the top of the range. The text of both brochures, MY2024 and MY2026, says the top rating “produces up to 580 hp and 2.800 Nm of torque” and gives the 500 hp rating 2,600 Nm, while the tables on the same page print 2,600 Nm for 580 hp and 2,400 Nm for 500 hp. Iveco UK’s Engines panel says “up to 580 hp and 2.600 Nm of torque” and also gives the 500 hp rating 2,600 Nm. Iveco’s 15 November 2023 release gives the Way Range “up to 580hp and 2,800Nm of torque” and a “500hp variant featuring 2,600Nm”, and FPT Industrial’s release of 16 November 2023 gives the XC13 diesel “up to 580 hp @ 2,800 Nm”. FPT Industrial’s XCursor 13 page lists two 426 kW / 580 HP ratings, one with 2,600 Nm at 940 rpm and one with 2,800 Nm at 978 rpm, and two 368 kW / 500 HP ratings, one with 2,400 Nm at 795 rpm and one with 2,600 Nm at 843 rpm. The 540 hp step’s torque band is 910–1,500 rpm in the MY2024 brochure and on Iveco UK’s pages and 950–1,500 rpm in the MY2026 brochure, and FPT’s 540 HP card with 2,500 Nm gives 910 rpm. Iveco UK’s tables print the 340 hp step’s torque band as 1,110–1,710 rpm, where both brochures print 1,100–1,710 and FPT’s card gives 1,400 Nm at 1,100 rpm.
On emissions, FPT prints “Euro VI E” on every XC13 diesel and C9 rating card, and its Cursor 9 page describes the 8.7-litre as “available in both Diesel and CNG versions, compliant with Euro VI Step E standards”. Iveco UK writes of “the Cursor diesel engine family Euro VI/E” and its compatibility with HVO / XTL to EN 15940. No document opened gives a lettered emission step for the XC13G.
Natural-gas version
The natural-gas X-Way is a 4x2 tractor with the AS cab, the XC13G engine at 500 hp / 368 kW and 2,200 Nm, an automated gearbox, a single-reduction rear axle on pneumatic or full pneumatic suspension, the ON or ON+ set-up and a 3,800 mm wheelbase. It is offered with CNG, quoted at up to 800 km, or with LNG, quoted at up to 1,700 km; the fuels are covered in LNG and bio-LNG trucks. HI-TRACTION is available with the diesel engines only.
Iveco’s figures for the gas version differ by document: up to 10% lower fuel consumption and up to 90% less CO2 when run on biomethane in both brochures; up to 11% and up to 95% in the 15 November 2023 release; and, on Iveco UK’s X-Way page, NOx 90% and particulate mass 95% below diesel and CO2 95% lower on biomethane. Neither brochure prints a rigid natural-gas line-up, and Iveco UK’s X-Way page offers the gas version as the “X-WAY ARTIC NATURAL GAS”, while the MY2026 brochure names a reinforced 9 ton tag axle “on rigid 6x2P diesel and CNG/LNG”.
Transmission and HI-TRACTION
In the line-up tables every XCursor 13 X-Way has an automated gearbox; with the Cursor 9, an automatic is offered beside it on the 4x2, 6x2P and 6x4 rigids. Iveco UK describes the “12 speed Traxon2 automated gearbox” with Rocking Mode, Off-road Mode, Creeping Mode and 4 reverse gears, a Shift Assistant that releases the High Performance Engine Brake when the driver asks for a gear change, a Reversing Assistant, and a “Roll against assistant” that slows a vehicle rolling back on uneven ground and selects neutral. Iveco’s 15 November 2023 release pairs the new engine with “the responsive 12-speed TRAXON Gen2 transmission by ZF”. The gearbox type is set out in automated manual transmissions. The rigid page’s Off-road card lists “Manual, Automated” gearboxes and Iveco UK’s tractor panel says “Choose between Automated, and automatic gearboxes”; no line-up table opened lists a manual gearbox, or an automatic with the XCursor 13.
HI-TRACTION is a hydrostatic front drive that, in Iveco’s words, “automatically switches to all-wheel drive” when grip is needed. It is available only with the diesel engines, Iveco UK presents it as lighter than all-wheel drive, and its creep function “completely disconnects the driveline allowing you to move the vehicle only by hydrostatic power”. For secondary braking, the MY2024 brochure describes the High Performance Engine Brake as “capable to substitute the Intarder in most missions”.
Axles, suspension and brakes
The rigid line-up lists seven axle configurations — 4x2, 6x2P, 6x2P (Twin), 6x4, 8x2x6 (2+2), 8x4 (1+3) and 8x4 (2+2) — and the tractor line-up two, 4x2 and 6x4. Iveco UK’s pages describe the 8x4 “either as a 2+2 or a Tridem version” and a rear steering axle on the 8x2 versions. The rigid table’s rear-axle row is labelled SR / HR and the tractor tables’ SR; Iveco UK describes single reduction for mainly paved roads and hub reduction for higher ground clearance and more demanding surfaces. Iveco UK gives disc brakes front and rear and a front axle load of up to nine tons.

| Tractor 4x2, natural gas (AS) | 3,800 mm | pneumatic, full pneumatic | ON, ON+ | not offered |
The XCursor 13 is listed on every diesel configuration, always with an automated gearbox. Iveco’s 15 November 2023 release, written about the S-Way and X-Way together, adds a reinforced front air suspension with high-stroke air bellows and 9.0 t GAW, offered on chassis variants including the ON+ set-up, 6x4 and 8x4 Tridem; a reinforced 9.0 t tag axle for 6x2 rigids; a new 18x single-reduction axle that “can withstand up to 60t GCW”; and the 17xHE Meritor axle. The MY2026 brochure lists a “New High Efficiency single reduction drive axle 18x HE” for “GCW=50/60t” and presents the reinforced 9 ton tag axle on the rigid 6x2P for rear-loader refuse collection vehicles. Iveco UK’s pages give the chassis a 7.7 mm constant-section high-strength frame with wheelbases from 3,120 mm to 6,700 mm.
Dimensions and weights
Iveco UK’s mission cards give the G.V.W. as 18–32 t on the rigid page, with 340–540 HP; as 32 t on its Concrete Mixers card, for an 8x4 with 360–540 hp, an automated gearbox and the AT or AD cab; and as 18–30 t on the artic page, with 460–580 hp. The rigid page’s Off-road card gives 340–480 HP, and no engine table opened lists a 480 hp rating. No document opened gives a gross combination weight for the vehicle; the 60 t is stated for the 18x rear axle.
No document opened gives an overall length, width or height, a turning circle or a kerb weight for the current X-Way; wheelbases are published per configuration, as in the table above. Iveco UK’s release of 29 September 2021 gives, for its two show vehicles, the low-roof AD day cab as 2.3 m wide and the AS low-roof sleeper “a minimal 95mm high transmission tunnel”. The 2017 release gave the Stralis X-WAY Super Loader 8x4 “a kerb weight as low as 9 tonnes”.
Tanks
No document opened gives a fuel, AdBlue or gas tank volume for the X-Way. The natural-gas tractor’s range is quoted at up to 800 km on CNG and up to 1,700 km on LNG. Iveco UK’s crane panel describes fuel tanks “in standard version or low profile on the left, right or both”, and air filters behind the cab or on the chassis.
Bodies and power take-offs
The MY2026 brochure and Iveco UK’s pages present the X-Way for tippers, hook and skip loaders, cranes and platforms, tipper semi-trailers, timber transport, gully and drain emptiers, truck mixers and refuse collection. For the mixer, the MY2026 brochure cites an 8x4 chassis with “a 9-litre engine with up to 400 hp (294 kW) and 1700 Nm”; for the gully emptier, “up to 2600 Nm” from the XC13 and a clutch-independent sandwich PTO. Iveco UK lists a Multipower PTO between engine and gearbox of up to 900 Nm, a sandwich PTO of up to 2,550 Nm, engine PTOs with flange or pump connection, and gearbox PTOs mounted in the upper, lower or central part or on the right side. The body-builder pre-equipment adds push switches in the upper shelf and the dashboard, pre-installed wiring from cab to chassis and from the body-builder connectors to the windscreen header panel, and slots for rocker switches in the dashboard. A vertical exhaust is available, and the tractor takes a range of fifth-wheel couplings of different heights and positions.
Safety and driver-assistance systems
The MY2024 brochure lists two Level 2 systems: Highway Assist, which keeps the vehicle in the centre of the lane using the front camera, active steering and capacitive hands-off detection and can be activated automatically by the Adaptive Cruise Control; and Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop&Go, which can follow a queue “with auto-restart after up to a 3 second stop”. Under “the latest European General Safety regulations” it lists ALC (Alcohol Interlock), ESS (Emergency Stop Signal), BSIS (Blind Spot Info System, for road users moving at 5–20 km/h in the nearside blind spot), MOIS (Moving Off Info System), REV (Reversing Detection, a camera in the rear crossmember), DDAW (Driver Drowsiness Attention Warning), ISA (Intelligent Speed Assist), AEBS (Advanced Emergency Braking System, “now available on steel bumper”, with “guaranteed full braking from 80 to 0 km/h”) and LDWS (Lane Departure Warning System).
Iveco UK’s X-Way page adds TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring) and EVSC (Electronic Vehicle Stability Control) with AEBS, describes ALC as an interface for “the Iveco factory option or any compatible aftermarket” alcohol interlock, and offers BSIS on the driver’s side as an option; its tractor panel names ADAS, EBS, ESP, AEBS and LDWS. The MY2026 brochure lists GPS Predictive Drive as standard, an airbag, a new Highway Assist with Lane Centring and ADDW (Advanced Driver Distraction Warning), which watches the driver through an infrared camera above 20 km/h; its list has ADDW and no DDAW. Apart from GPS Predictive Drive, quoted as standard, and the driver’s-side BSIS and Iveco’s factory alcohol interlock, quoted as options, none of these documents marks the systems standard or optional.
Equipment and options
The MY2024 brochure describes a new interior design with a customisable dashboard, a fully adjustable steering wheel, a full TFT instrument cluster of 10 or 12 inch, a 10 inch infotainment screen and an electric parking brake; seats with full backrest in vinyl, fabric or leather, with heating, air suspension, lumbar support and a choice of seat-belt colour; compartments inside and under the cab; 2 USB connections as standard on the dash panel; cup and bottle holders; and a foldable table on the passenger side. Outside, it lists eight grille options, the IVECO logo in chrome or matt gun metal, headlamps with LED daytime running lights as standard and LED headlamps available, radar for the ADAS functions, steps and grab handles to the windscreen, side air deflectors, mirrorless cameras, and a plastic, hybrid or steel bumper, with a full steel bumper for off-road use. Iveco’s 2023 release presents the mirrorless cameras as “a new option” with a fuel saving of up to 1.5% compared to a standard mirror, and Iveco UK calls them optional.
Iveco UK adds the Hi-Cruise 2.0 predictive driving system with eco-roll, predictive gearshift and predictive cruise control, three driving modes from ECO to Power, an anti-idling device, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with two phones paired at once, the IVECO DRIVER PAL voice companion, an integrated HVAC system with an Eco-Mode, a one-piece lower bunk with a soft or hard mattress, a Smart or Comfort upper bunk, and refrigerators. The MY2026 brochure lists 2 USB ports, 12V and 24V power sockets and 4 cup and bottle holders as standard on the dashboard, a fast-charging USB-C socket beside the foldable table, a 10-inch infotainment display with TomTom live navigation, over-the-air updates and the IVECO App Store, a lower driving position, LED or traditional headlamps with LED daytime running lights as standard, and a bumper in plastic, hybrid in black or cab colour, or full metal. Beyond the items quoted above as standard, available or optional, no document opened marks the equipment standard or optional.
